
Day 1: Arriving at The Los Mochis Airport you will meet your bilingual guide. Shortly thereafter, you will be transferred by Suburban to the colonial city of El Fuerte 1 ½ hours away. Your lodging will be at the Hotel El Fuerte, a captivatingly beautiful mansion over 200 years old.

Day 2: This is a very exciting day traveling on the only passenger/tour train in Mexico; the Chepe. Passing through some of the stunning scenery that makes the Copper Canyon famous, we will arrive at our destination; the Cerocahui Valley. Our rustic and comfortable lodging will be at the Hotel Paraiso del Oso.
After lunch, we have an easy hike to the Cave of the Crosses.
This evening the hotel will provide us with fanny-packs (compress bags) where we will carry the most essential clothing for a 2 day trek. We will leave the rest of the luggage at the hotel and the staff will secure it for our return to the hotel. We recommend leaving certain valuables like passports as well!

Day 3: Huicorachi, (6800’ a.s.l.). After breakfast, we will start our first hike. Today we will reach an elevation of 1400’ (6 hrs). We will follow Raramuri trails up and down, but mostly up. On arrival, we will help you set up tents and later your guide will prepare refreshments and a delicious dinner!
Huicorachi is a little Raramuri rancho, located on a beautiful mesa surrounded by deep canyons. The native people that host us are warm and welcoming.

Day 4: El Naranjo, (3500’ a.s.l.). An early breakfast (7 AM) will help us to start today’s hike no later than 8:30 AM. This is going to be the longest and most strenuous day in the whole trek.
We will leave the highlands descending on a steep trail. Leaving the oak-pine forest, we will encounter scrub oaks and little by little see a greater variety of vegetation as we arrive at our destination. It will be very interesting to observe cactus (Pitahayas) and cotton trees (Kapoks). (7-8 hours)
As with other trekking days, lunch will be on the trail. Arriving at our campsites, refreshments and a great meal await!

Day 5: Urique-return to the Oso. Our hike will take us through the mining town of Urique our final destination on this trek. We will have time to swim or just soak our feet in the Urique River. Lunch follows at a very charming restaurant in town; “La Plaza”. Delicious food and a well deserved beer will welcome us on our arrival! (4 1/2 hours)
We will drive back to the hotel, climbing up on a beautiful and impressive canyon road. Arriving at the rim, we will be amazed by the beauty of the Urique Canyon.
When we arrive at the hotel, we will enjoy a great shower and of course, continue celebrating the conclusion of our remarkable trek with Margaritas.

Day 6: Today after breakfast, we will visit the Mission of San Francisco Javier from the 17th century in the town of Cerocahui, and if time permits, a boarding school for Raramuri children. At 11:30 AM, we will go to the train station and at approximately 12:30 PM we will take the Chepe to our next destination of Creel.
Our lodging is at the Sierra Lodge. This hotel is lit by kerosene lamps and heated by woodstoves. Be prepared to experience luxury within the simplicity of this rustic and unique hotel right in the woods! You will certainly enjoy a delightful dinner; the food here is excellent!
The evening will be free to relax or for those who wish, we can take a short hike behind the hotel to the Painted Cave (40 minutes RT). It is not known who created the paintings on the cave’s wall.

Day 7: Today’s driving excursion will include beautiful views. We will see interesting rock formations, the Raramuri Valleys, the Arareco Lake, a visit to the Cusarare Mission from the 18th Century, Loyola Museum and great paintings from the 18th & 19th Centuries. We can shop in the town of Creel for about an hour and also visit the Raramuri Museum located here. A box lunch from the hotel is included.
The evening is free to relax, or you can take an easy hike to the Cusarare waterfall (2 hours RT)
Meals included: breakfast, lunch & dinner.Day 8: After a hearty breakfast we will be transferred to the train station to catch our eastbound train to El Fuerte and return to the Hotel El Fuerte. The Sierra Lodge will provide us with a box lunch.
While leaving these beautiful canyons, the sunset will give us another opportunity for great pictures and a relaxing time! Enjoy a delicious dinner upon your arrival!

Day 9: Breakfast will be the last meal in our package and according to your flight schedule you will be transferred to the Los Mochis Airport.
